I am not a consistent person, hence the garden burgers in my freeze from when I was going to be a vegetarian, the 2 pairs of golf shoes in my closet from when I was going to pick up golf, the multiple yoga and balance ball DVD's in my TV stand from when I was (and still am) going to get in shape...I could go on and on about the things I was 'going' to do and never have. I can't help it, it's just my personality!
Now that I am a mother, consistency comes up more then ever. All the parenting books I read tell you to be consistent, whether it comes to letting your baby cry-it-out or not, discipline, bed time routines...you name it, they tell you to be consistent.
So, my first major challenge of motherhood: being consistent so that my baby can get a decent nights sleep and learn to sleep in his crib.
Parker is a great sleeper at night, going down between 7:30-8ish and sleeping until 5:00, when he eats and goes right back to sleep until 7:30-8:30! I think he is teething and now wakes up once around 1:30 for some soothing, then right back down.
Last night I put him to bed in his crib for the firs time and he slept wonderfully until his normal wake up at 1:30.
I can't say the same for myself! It was the weirdest feeling getting into bed and looking at the empty Moses Basket that snuggled my baby from the first night we brought him home for the hospital. Even Shrek came over to my side of the bed to sniff the vacant bed. I can't tell you how many times I awoke to go check on Parker only to find him sound asleep in his crib. He was content and asleep!
I would call it a very successful first night in the crib, aside from the fact that when he woke up at 1:30 I brought him right back into our room and put him in the Moses Basket next to me! Oops!! Maybe tonight I will be consistent!
