I never wanted to be "one of those moms" who drive around just so their baby would sleep...that was before I WAS a mom! My opinion on this has now changed! After a very restless night for Parker and me, I decided sleep was more important, even if it meant spending all my gas money for the week!
Parker was very resistant about going back to sleep in his crib after his normal 1:30am wake up call. I tried just about everything! Finally I gave in at 4:40am, nursed him in my bed and watched a Tivo'ed American Idol. Needless to say after almost 3 hours of no sleep for the both of us I did not want to wake him when he finally did fall asleep in the car seat on our way home from the grocery store. I really wanted to go home with a happy baby so I could bake some goodies for our kind neighbor who came sometime in the wee hours of the morning to plow our driveway!! Seriously, when Dusty left for work at 5:30am the driveway was clear! What a sweet man!! So...I drove in to Starbucks, got a White Mocha, turned on Dr. Laura and kept on driving! We drove for an hour. Parker got his much needed sleep, I got my down time and we are both happy and on our way to bake some goodies!
Isn't it funny the things you'll do that you swore you never would? I say do what works and don't worry about what you're "supposed to" do.
